Who says you need a serger machine to achieve a clean and polished finish?
There are actually several ways to do it, and I'm here to share with you my top two favorite techniques depending on the project and fabric I'm using:
#1 Zigzag stitch: Perfect for medium to heavy-weight fabrics, simply adjust your sewing machine to a zigzag stitch and sew along the raw edge to enclose the seam allowance. Trim excess fabric near the stitches for a clean finish.
#2 Pinking shears: Prevent fraying and add a decorative edge on lightweight to medium-weight fabrics like cotton, linen, and rayon. Just remember, they don't fully enclose the seam allowance like a serger or zigzag stitch, so use them accordingly.
