BACK STITCH

The Back stitch is one of those basic stitches used in many types of hand embroidery. Back stitch is worked from right to left and is great for creating solid lines. Back stitch stitch can be worked on straight lines, curved lines, tightly curved lines.

Bring the needle through point 1 and take it in through point 2 to create first stitch.

Bring the needle through point 3 (from the back of the fabric) and then take your needle down to the end of the previous stitch at point 2. Always pull the needle through the same hole as previous stitch so there is no gap between your stitches.

Try to make your stitches as even as you can. The length of the stitches depends on a pattern, a small pattern will call for smaller stitches than a bigger pattern.
